VOCAL : Interactive System & Tool Support
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper illustrates the application of VOCAL (V iewpoint O riented Verifi c ation a nd Va l idation) to the development of systems incorporating an interactive graphical user interface (GUI). Many applications are now designed to operate interactively rather than in batch mode. In most cases though test processes do not adequately consider the multi-perspective approach required to test, and evaluate such products. Incrementally constructed, prototyped based development models are often associated with the production of interactive systems. Such models of development can lead to difficulties if the testing process has not been designed to cope with rapid iteration, and evaluation. VOCAL bridges this gap by providing a multiple perspective based model of verification and evaluation, capable of supporting design iteration, and evolutionary user interface development and testing. The paper demonstrates how the VOCAL framework is tailored to cope with this increasingly important class of system, using viewpoints for the management and capture of interactive system test perspectives. To aid VOCALs application to interactive and other systems, current developments in prototype tool support are described. Subsequently, the prototype tool's design, implementation, and operation is discussed and evaluated, along with support for process management. Finally, future enhancements are described that may be incorporated in later versions of the tool. EDT 2004 : an open interactive timetabling tool
This article deals with the analysis and design of an interactive decision support system for timetable management. This tool will be able to take hierarchical data organization into account and to maintain coherence of the constraints on this data. Our research which has led to the creation of the EDT tool has two aims. The first aim is to provide an open, generic tool which can be developed i...
متن کاملInteractive training of speech articulation for hearing impaired using a talking robot
This paper introduces a speech training system for auditory impaired people employing a talking robot. The talking robot consists of mechanically-designed vocal organs such as a vocal tract, a nasal cavity, artificial vocal cords, an air pump and a sound analyzer with a microphone system, and the mechanical parts are controlled by 10 servomotors in total for generating human-like voices. The ro...
متن کاملInteractive Tin Modification with a Cutting Tool
We present an interactive method of surface modelling using a cutting tool. Terrain modification is an important part of spatial decision support systems for various applications, including landscape modelling, civil engineering and flood management. We describe an algorithm and demonstrate several examples of use the method on different surface features. This approach is based on the ability t...
متن کاملDeriving Vocal Interfaces from Logical Descriptions in Multi-device Authoring Environments
Model-based approaches for interactive Web applications have neglected vocal interaction. However, ubiquitous multi-device environments call for better support for such modality. In this paper we present a language for logical descriptions of vocal interfaces along with a transformation for deriving corresponding implementations and show an example application. Such results have been integrated...
متن کاملConstraints and flexibility during vocal development: insights from marmoset monkeys
Human vocal development is typically conceived as a sequence of two processes — an early maturation phase where vocal sounds change as a function of body growth (‘constraints’) followed by a period during which social experience can influence vocal sound production (‘flexibility’). However, studies of other behaviors (e.g., locomotion) reveal that growth and experience are interactive throughou...
